JOHOR BAHRU, Dec 1 - The National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which aims to increase the use of electric buses significantly, is seen as opening up new growth opportunities for local manufacturers, including Johor-based Gemilang Coachwork san Bhd.

The company's executive director, Pang Jun Jie, said the government's focus on energy transition and green mobility not only stimulates domestic demand but also enhances Malaysia's competitiveness as a regional hub for electric bus manufacturing.

The city’s iconic KL Hop-On Hop-Off (KL HOHO) sightseeing service has taken a major leap toward sustainability, becoming the first transport operator in Malaysia to roll out buses built on MAN’s Euro VI-specification chassis.

Elang Wah Sdn Bhd (EWSB), the operator of KL HOHO, recently took delivery of six custom-built double-deckers from MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd, with bodywork by Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd.
