Gemilang International Limited (the “Company,” together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”) announced on 16 February 2026 that it has commenced legal action against a former executive director, effective 11 February 2026. The individual, identified as Mr. Phang Sun Wah, allegedly breached restrictive covenants detailed in his letter of appointment and code of conduct, including prohibitions against conflicts of interest and engagement in competing businesses during his tenure with Gemilang Coachwork Sdn Bhd (GCSB).
According to the announcement, Mr. Phang and his daughter, Ms. Phang Huey Shyan, had previously served as executive directors before resigning on 11 January 2021 and 8 December 2020, respectively.
